CHRISTMAS FLOWERS! Help to decorate the church for the Christmas season. All memorial and honor donations will be recognized in the Christmas bulletin. Please complete the outside of the Christmas Flower Donation envelope you can find in the Gallery, along with your donation and place it the collection basket by December 15th. Mark your calendars to help out with the Greening of the Church, which will take place after our service December 22nd.
CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS Church school students will be making sugar cookies in December. We are also planning our Epiphany Pageant for Sunday, January 5th after the 10am service. Currently, our plan for the pageant is to be a “reading theatre” unless we have more volunteers. So, please reach out to Michelle Wagner at wagners88@comcast.net if you are interested.
OUTREACH Have you heard the news? There is an official Outreach Committee at St. Thomas! If you are interested in joining this wonderful ministry, please reach out to Linda Ubry. At the November vestry meeting, the following non-profit organizations were approved to receive donations from St. Thomas. $2000 Hurricane Relief via Erin Birdsall. This money will be earmarked to help those still homeless and offset their current hotel costs. See the December News Letter for more details. $1000 Fisherman’s Mark. This donation will be made in the name of Bill and Barbara Petty. It is located in Lambertville and provides food support, an early childhood center, as well as social services. $1000 RVCC Resource Center and Food Pantry. Assists students, staff and faculty with resources and food needs. $1000 Safe Harbor. Rev. Kyle donates his time at the Flemington location. They provide help to those surviving physical or emotional trauma and anyone in the community needing a little extra support.
COLLECTION FOR SEAMEN’S CHURCH INSTITUTE If you are interested in joining Calvary with the delivery of these items, please reach out to Daniela Johnson @ dsj.thomasvestry@gmail.com. The plan is to meet at the Spinning Wheel diner on Route 22 by 9:00am on Monday, December 2nd, drive the collection to Seamen’s Church. They will then have lunch together at the diner when everyone returns.
FAMILY PROMISE Most needed items: tissues, paper towels, laundry detergent. Additional needs are dish soap, dishwasher detergent, cleaning supplies and quarters. Please place items in white hamper, located in the front entry near the coat closet. Quarters can be placed in the “Quarter Tube” in the church hall. The quarters will be distributed to their unhoused clients for use at local laundromats.
IMPORTANT TAX INFORMATION The IRS requires that all contributions for the current tax year – regardless of the date on the check --- be received and deposited by the end of the current year. Any contributions that you want to use for your 2024 taxes must be at the church no later than Sunday, December 29th. Contributions after that date will be held for deposit after January 1, 2025 and will not appear on your 2024 giving statement.
